Principal - Joanna Cox
Joanna was trained by Catherine Marks Wells, a former dancer of ‘The Ballet Russes de Monte Carlo’ & later the ballet mistress to ‘The Scottish Ballet’. As a young dancer, Joanna filmed with Scottish Television & performed in productions with Elaine MacDonald. Joanna trained in Classical Ballet for three years at The West Street Ballet School, Covent Garden. Some of her teachers included Maryon Lane, Julia Farron, Svetlana Beriovosa, Natasha Lisakova, Judy Maden, Anita Young, Michael Woodwark & Gary Sherwood. During her second year at West Street she also started her career as a professional singer, working with, The Alan Cobb Big Band, a 10 piece big band, as the lead singer until graduation. After graduation, Joanna worked with Sylvia Young Productions, as a professional singer & dancer, productions included: ‘That’ll be the Day Show’, Freddie Garrity (and the Dreamers), Susan Maughan, Wayne Dobson, Tom O’Connor, Brian Poole (& the Tremeloes) and The Rockin’ Berries. Joanna started to help her ballet teacher as an assistant from the age of 9 years, & always loved working with the students, her plan from that age was to have her own ballet school. She gained her ballet teaching qualifications, with Mrs. Gillian Robinson, a major Cecchetti ballet examiner, with the ISTD. During this time Joanna worked as a full time professional session singer, including pro recording work, during this time she also performed in productions with Geno Washington & Joe Pasquale. Joanna's compositions have been recorded by professional artists. In 1997, Joanna recorded a track for the 'Raise the Roof' fundraising CD for Deddington Church, Oxfordshire. Upon retirement from professional performing in 1997, Joanna established ‘Deddington Ballet School’. Joanna gained a Level 2 Wheelchair Dance qualification with WDSA in 2015.

Our Ballet Classes
It is essential when learning any dance genre, that the whole lesson is dedicated to the one subject. We believe in stress free exams, not just for our students, but for parents/ guardians too. The students are prepared for their exams during class, without any additional classes or costs.
